Often Heard Phrases Throughout the Triratna Community and What They Mean

  1.  Practice Generosity (give lots of money  and your time for free to the Centre)
  2. To develop yourself spiritually, give without expecting reciprocity (The only thing you  will get in return for the money and time you gave is an expectation that you’ll give more the next time a “fund raising campaign” is undertaken)
  3. Work hard for the Dharma (work in one of the Centres businesses – preferably for free!)
  4. “Respect the spiritual hierarchy” (do what you are told by order members and don’t get lippy)
  5. “I’m very disappointed in your egotism” (you dared to question why Triratna is so hierarchical and controlling)
  6.  “What was your part in all of this?” (It is all your fault eg “you may have been raped by Sangharakshita but did you dress sexy?!!!”)
  7.  “Submit to the Dharma” (act like a slave to the “Ordained”)
  8.  “The Buddha counselled disciples to ‘listen to the wise’” (Do what I tell you)

And they insist there is no abusive culture at Triratna!!
